Laughing young woman in a black wide brim hat and dark red lipstick. FAQs are hilarious, apparently.

Frequently Asked Questions

No mirror-testing marathon required. Answer these four, and we'll do the narrowing down for you:

  1. What's your hair and eye color?
  2. Would you describe your complexion as fair, light, medium, tan, or deep?
  3. What single color do you look best in?
  4. Which combinations pull you in — deep purples and blacks? Light blues and pinks? Warm, earthy tones?

Email us your answers, and we'll point you straight to your best shades — no guesswork, no wasted samples.

Yes, absolutely. All of our products are cruelty-free and not tested on animals.

Here's an honest note: when we first heard "your foundation feels heavy," we understood exactly why. Most of us grew up on foundations loaded with mica and fillers — light, low-opacity, forgiving of a heavy hand. Ours is different: less filler, more actual pigment, which means a little goes a long way. Used with the wrong brush (or too much product), it can absolutely feel heavy. Used right, it's the lightest, most natural coverage you'll ever wear.

Here's how to get it right from day one:

  1. Prep your skin. Cleanse and moisturize, and give it 15–20 minutes to fully absorb before applying anything.
  2. Start small. Tip a tiny amount of foundation onto a piece of paper or into your jar lid.
  3. Load your kabuki brush. Swirl it into the powder, then work it across paper until the color looks even — no visible heavy patches on the bristles.
  4. Apply in circles. Start where you need the most coverage, then build outward in small circular motions. Two or three light passes beats one heavy one.
  5. Check your problem areas last. If pores are still visible, blend with a finger swipe rather than adding more powder — this is the #1 place people accidentally overdo it.
  6. Build slowly. Step back, check the mirror, and only add more if you actually need it. Once you get the feel for it, you'll barely need a mirror at all.
  7. Reach the tricky spots with a smaller brush. Nostrils, under-eyes, and other hard-to-reach areas do better with a concealer or eyeshadow brush than a kabuki.
  8. Blush goes on its own brush — never your kabuki, unless you're aiming for a rosy face by accident.
  9. Set it your way. Mineral veil or setting powder can go under your blush (kabuki is fine there) or over it (use a separate brush so your kabuki doesn't pick up color).

Prefer a lighter routine? If your skin's already fairly even, skip full foundation — just spot-conceal where needed and finish with a mineral veil or setting powder to blur texture.

Get the technique down once, and you'll wonder how you ever wore anything else.

Easier than it looks — no felt-tip pen required, just water and a brush.

  1. Tap a small amount of powdered liner into a separate container or your jar lid.
  2. Wet your angled liner brush, then dip it into the powder.
  3. Mix into an inky paste right in the container.
  4. Apply along your lash line — adjust pressure for a thin, precise line or press harder for a bold one.

Want it more intense or more sheer? Add a touch less water for richer color, or a touch more for something softer and more sheer.

Powders:
Our mineral powders have an exceptionally long shelf life because they contain no water or ingredients that support bacterial growth. Store them tightly closed in a cool, dry place, and always use clean brushes. For best hygiene, dispense powder into the lid or onto a clean surface instead of dipping your brush directly into the jar, and wash your brushes regularly.

Lipsticks & Lip Balms:
Our lip products contain no water and are formulated with vitamin E to help keep the natural oils fresh. Over time, those oils will naturally oxidize, so after 1–2 years you may notice a change in scent, although the product is generally still safe to use. Keeping the cap tightly closed and storing products away from heat and humidity will help extend their freshness.

Living in a humid climate?
If you live in a very humid area or store your lip products in a damp bathroom, you may occasionally sanitize the surface with a light mist or dab of rubbing alcohol and allow it to air dry. Because we avoid unnecessary fungicides and preservatives, extra humidity can sometimes encourage surface mold on natural products. While this is rare, this simple step can help keep your products fresh.

Our foundation contains both titanium dioxide and zinc oxide—minerals commonly used in sun protection—but the exact amounts vary by shade, with deeper shades containing slightly lower percentages.

Because SPF testing is based on applying a standardized amount of product, a foundation's SPF rating doesn't necessarily reflect the protection you'll receive in everyday use. Most people apply makeup too lightly and unevenly for it to provide reliable sun protection.

For the best defense against UV rays, we recommend applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen before your foundation and remembering often-missed areas like your neck and ears.

Short answer: don't toss them. Almost every "wrong" sample still has a job to do — you just haven't found it yet.

  • Foundation too yellow or light? Use it as a blemish concealer.
  • Too orange? Dab it over blue under-eye circles to neutralize them.
  • Too dark? Perfect for your crease when building a nude eye look.
  • Too light? Use it (or a concealer) on your brow bone and lid as a highlighter — or pair it with a deeper shade to contour your whole face.
  • Any foundation, mineral veil, or setting powder makes a solid eyeshadow base. Setting powder especially helps with oily lids.
  • Blush or bronzer works as eyeshadow too — some people look stunning with a soft, blushy lid.
  • Blush under lip gloss or balm is an easy, pretty layering trick.
  • Shimmery shadow (like Engagement Ring, Tiny Bubbles, 24K Gold, or Fiery Redhead) doubles as a highlighter for collarbones, shoulders, or chest — solo or mixed with bronzer.
  • Medium-to-dark eyeshadow makes a great eyeliner substitute — lighter shades work well for fair or blonde customers wanting the same effect.
  • Clear balm moisturizes dry knuckles and elbows just as well as lips.
